Secret Service touted as ‘new amenity’ for Trump Tower residents

A New York real estate agency is trying to lure potential buyers to Trump Tower by promoting a “new amenity.”

That would be the incoming president’s Secret Service detail.

Real estate agency Douglas Elliman sent an email titled “Fifth Avenue Buyers Interested in Secret Service Protection?” just days after Donald Trump was elected president, according to Politico.

The email advertised a $2.1 million condo in Trump Tower, calling it the “most secure building in Manhattan.”

Politico noted that Trump does not receive any part of the condo sales because the units are individually owned. Because the building is owned by Trump Corp. however, it does retain a $2,000 processing fee per application plus an additional $250 per adult resident.

On Monday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said he is requesting $35 million from the federal government to foot the bill for the cost of securing Trump Tower from Election Day though Jan. 20.

The New York Police Department has helped with security since Trump’s victory on Nov. 8.

Trump’s wife, Melania, and their young son, Barron, are planning to stay in New York until Barron finishes the school year.
