Lindsey Graham booed in home state after suggesting crowd get vaccinated

Sen. Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican, was booed by a crowd of Republicans on Saturday after he suggested they think about getting vaccinated.

Speaking to an audience in Summerville, South Carolina, the Republican became the subject of jeers when he urged those in attendance to consider getting vaccinated, footage showed.

“If you haven’t had the vaccine, you ought to think about getting it, because if you’re my age — ” Graham said.

The state’s senior senator could not finish his sentence before South Carolinian boos cut him off.

“No!” the crowd shouted at Graham.

“I didn’t tell you to get it. You ought to think about it,” he responded. “Ninety-two percent of people in hospitals in South Carolina are unvaccinated.”

“False!” crowd members replied. “Not true!”

Graham maintained he stands against mandates and labeled them as “probably unconstitutional,” according to footage.

He said the vaccine is effective against the virus and asked audience members to raise their hands if they had been vaccinated against the measles.

“It’s not the same,” several in the crowd said.
