Former Republican congressman Charlie Dent endorses Joe Biden for president

Another former Republican representative is endorsing 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Former GOP Rep. Charlie Dent, a frequent critic of President Trump, said he backs Biden during a Wednesday morning interview with CNN, the news network where Dent has worked since he left the House in 2018.

“At the end of the day, this isn’t about Right or Left. It’s not about ideology,” Dent said. “To me, it’s about right or wrong, stability versus instability, security versus insecurity, you know, normal versus abnormal.”

In an op-ed published to CNN’s website on Wednesday, Dent called Biden an “honorable man” and said the former Delaware senator would calm the waters.

“Biden is fundamentally a decent and honorable man who respects the American tradition, supports the rule of law, embraces America’s friends and allies, and will restore some semblance of normalcy to the functioning of government,” Dent wrote.

Dent joins former Republican presidential candidate John Kasich, who had teased a coming Biden endorsement from a ‘prominent’ former GOP congressman.
