ST. LOUIS (AP) — Brown Shoe returned to a profit in its fourth quarter, helped by lower costs.
The retailer’s adjusted earnings and revenue topped analysts’ estimates, but its 2013 forecast missed Wall Street’s expectations. It took a conservative stance due to the impact that payroll tax changes are having on consumers and the possibility that shoppers will tighten their discretionary spending.
