James Comey on handling of Clinton emails: ‘I would do some things differently’

Former FBI Director James Comey writes in his upcoming book that he would “do some things differently” in his handling of the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

Comey said he even received criticism from his family over the press conference he called when recommending no charges against Clinton, according to excerpts provided to Axios.

“I’ve taken some abuse, including from my beloved family, for ‘Seacresting it’ by which they mean imitating the dramatic tease,” Comey writes, according to Axios. “[I]f I had it to do over again, I would do some things differently. I would avoid the ‘Seacresting’ mistake by saying at the beginning of my statement that we weren’t recommending charge.”

Comey also said he has never met Clinton, despite attempts to do so in 2002 when he was a U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.
