A series of unfortunate events plagued New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s appearance at a labor event.
The 2020 presidential candidate was supposed to appear in person in Iowa at an AFL-CIO event on Wednesday, but had his flight canceled to due weather.
He then appeared via video, but an audio glitch made the mayor sound like he had inhaled helium.
There were audible laughs in the room as de Blasio spoke, according to videos shared by reporters.

Well… this is unfortunate for @NYCMayor – his flight to Iowa got cancelled and his video call to Iowa labor event sounds… like this. pic.twitter.com/BGhES1IBi7

Organizers later apologized for the technical glitch and said de Blasio’s address would be replayed.
“You all deserve to hear the Mayor speak in a — his own voice,” an organizer said.
Update: The AFL-CIO will play the de Blasio video again

Neither the Iowa Federation of Labor nor the de Blasio campaign responded to requests for comment from the Washington Examiner.
