A Florida woman was charged with aggravated battery this week for allegedly head-butting, punching, and slashing her boyfriend with a knife after he said he was too tired for sex.
Jennifer Lee Chapman, 37, initially took a serrated knife from the kitchen to cut her own arms, according to a complaint filed to Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Her boyfriend attempted to stop her from harming herself, but this quickly led to a physical confrontation between the couple. Both Chapman and her boyfriend fell to the floor during their tussle. Chapman allegedly took the knife after briefly separating from her boyfriend on the floor and began to charge at him, slashing his arm and shoulder.
After seeing her boyfriend’s bloody injuries, Chapman fled the altercation “on foot,” according to a police report obtained by TheSmokingGun.com.
Chapman has had previous run-ins with the law, including illegal possession of marijuana, crystal meth, and the antidepressant Xanax. She pleaded guilty to drug charges in 2018, but was charged with being in violation of her 2-year probation sentence.
The alleged incident occurred last week in a Tampa suburb about 5:45 in the morning, but Chapman was arrested on Wednesday.
