President Joe Biden said New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who resigned abruptly on Tuesday amid multiple sexual harassment allegations, had done “a hell of a job” in his role leading the state on infrastructure, voting access, and other priorities for Democrats.
Asked to assess Cuomo’s tenure as governor for 10 1/2 years, personal behavior notwithstanding, Biden said, “He’s done a hell of a job.”

Biden continued: “I thought he’s done a hell of a job, on everything from access to voting to infrastructure — a whole range of things. That’s why it’s so sad.”
Cuomo stepped down Tuesday after an investigation led by New York Attorney General Letitia James found that the governor sexually harassed multiple women.
Biden stressed that he was not praising Cuomo’s conduct toward the women who came forward to allege mistreatment. The president had called on Cuomo to resign after the results of the investigation were released.
“Should he remain as governor is one question. And women should be believed when they make accusations that are able to, on the face of them, make sense, and they are investigated. And the judgment was made what they said was correct,” Biden said. “That’s one thing.”
