President and First Lady Obama greeted President-elect and First Lady-to-be Trump on the steps of the White House Friday morning. The profound moment was captured for history as the four posed for photographers.
While cable news broadcast the live video feed, President Obama could be overheard saying “I’m always on the left” to Trump as he took his position in the photo to the left of the president-elect. The two exchanged additional comments and both laughed.
It was certainly a lighthearted moment between the two men following a tense and sometimes contentious transition.
The Obamas will host the Trumps for a reception in the White House before embarking on the journey down Pennsylvania Avenue for the official swearing-in ceremony.
