Democrat Jon Ossoff on Wednesday sought to get a jump on Republican Karen Handel in a closely watched runoff with a nearly $300,000 television ad buy in the Atlanta media market.

Ossoff’s initial purchase ahead of the June 20 contest, to run Thursday through April 26, was to run on broadcast and cable, was being supplemented by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which placed a roughly $450,000 television to run during the same period, media sources said.
