Scoop: Celebrities weigh in on Hudson tragedy

After Tuesday’s tragic news that Jennifer Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew, Julian King, was killed, as well as her mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, colleagues of the “Dreamgirls” star reached out with messages of support.

“American Idol” judge Paula Abdul told “ET” in a statement that the incident was a “horrific tragedy and my thoughts and prayers go out to Jennifer and her entire family.”

Queen Latifah, Jennifer’s co-star in “The Secret Life of Bees,” told “Access Hollywood,” “I know the family is devastated and heartbroken and I hope that friends and fans and those who care about her just pray for her and give her all the support that she needs.”

Even “Idol” judge Simon Cowell spoke from the heart, telling Us in a statement, “What has happened is absolutely horrendous. My thoughts go out to Jennifer and all her family.”

Our prayers go out to Julia, Jennifer and their loved ones.

Tough guy

He may have taken a backseat to Madonna during their marriage, but when it comes to the divorce settlement, Guy Ritchie is reportedly standing up for himself. According to the U.K.’s News of the World, the British director turned down a settlement of 20 million pounds, or about $31 million.

But it’s not just about the cash: Her Madgesty reportedly wants their children to reside with her in NYC, while Guy wants them educated in London.

Guy’s biographer told Hello! a friend warned that the battle could get even uglier: “He and Madonna are very angry now, no doubt about it, but they are willing to put that aside for their children. But I do think that if one sees the other linked up with a new partner so soon, it will make everything a lot more complicated for everyone involved.”

Hmm, wonder who he could be referring to?

Party crashers

Actress Kate Hudson found out that celebrities are not above the law when police showed up at her Halloween costume party in the tony Brentwood nabe, the New York Post reports. Revelers like Courteney Cox and David Arquette, Cindy Crawford, and Winona Ryder were sent inside and told to lower the noise.

But that doesn’t mean the night ended badly, especially for “300” hunk Gerard Butler, whose cowboy costume attracted a lot of admirers. Hope Courteney relayed that tidbit to her BFF Jennifer Aniston … who reportedly dined with Gerard last week.
