Rapper YG was arrested in his Los Angeles home Friday on robbery charges.
YG, who is credited with songs such as Why You Always Hatin?, Who Do You Love?, and F— Donald Trump, was released on $250,000 bail on Friday night after authorities served a search warrant at his house. A hearing is scheduled for next week.
“He was completely caught off guard,” YG lawyer Joe Tacopina told NBC Los Angeles. “I don’t exactly know the motivation, but the timing is sure suspicious,” Tacopina said. “Without question, he wears a bull’s-eye on his back.”
Fellow rapper and Los Angeles native The Game believes that police were unfairly targeting YG.
“Funny how @YG gets arrested the weekend of the Grammy’s when he’s supposed to hit the stage in Nip’s honor.
“#LAPDtheBiggestGangHere,” the rapper tweeted.

The Game was referring to a performance YG was scheduled to give at Sunday’s Grammy Awards paying tribute to the slain rapper Nipsey Hustle, who was killed in March 2019.
This is not the first time YG, whose real name is Keenon Jackson, has been in trouble with the law. He was arrested for felony robbery charges in Las Vegas back in 2018.
