‘Hannah Montana Forever’ reaches critical turning point

Say you’re an international singing superstar who recently took off your blond wig to reveal that you’re actually just a mousy teenager from Tennessee. Who hasn’t been through that at some point, right?

No?

Well, Miley Stewart has.

These days on the hit comedy “Hannah Montana Forever,” Stewart (played by Miley Cyrus, of course) has reached a turning point — forgoing her secret identity of music star Hannah Montana and telling the world she’s really just a normal girl who created another identity so she could have an unencumbered life.

Now, Stewart is paying the price for giving up her Hannah persona. In next week’s episode (8 p.m. EST Sunday, Disney Channel), the paparazzi are hounding Stewart, so much so that she is afraid to leave the house or perform anymore.

So what’s a troubled superstar to do?

She calls on her Aunt Dolly (Dolly Parton) for advice.

The plot is played for silliness on “Hannah Montana Forever.” However, it’s not too far from real life.

As “Hannah Montana” draws near its series finale, the show is starting to advance plots that lightly reflect Cyrus’ real-life pitfalls of being a celebrity.

Other highlights for the week:

SUNDAY

» “Survivor: Nicaragua” (8 p.m., CBS). It’s time to name the winner, who will get less than 15 minutes of fame and $1 million (minus taxes).

TUESDAY

» “Skating With the Stars” (8 p.m., ABC). The finale will be worth catching just to see the outlandish judges embarrass themselves as they try to hog the camera.

WEDNESDAY

» “Ghost Hunters/Ghost Hunters International” marathon (starting at 8 a.m., Syfy). Nothing says “Merry Christmas” like a daylong marathon of reality shows about ghost-chasing.

» “A Home For The Holidays” (8 p.m., CBS). Maroon 5, Ricky Martin and Nelly perform in this special that intertwines inspirational tales of foster care adoption.

FRIDAY

» “It’s A Wonderful Life” (8 p.m., NBC). What better way to relax the night before Christmas than to have this classic playing in the background?

SATURDAY

» “Doctor Who Christmas Special” (9 p.m., BBC America). The good doctor has a yuletide adventure, complete with newlyweds in need, monsters and an opera diva.
