Meghan McCain: I’m ‘thrilled’ Biden will appear on ‘The View’ to discuss running for president

Meghan McCain, daughter of the late Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said she is “thrilled” that former Vice President Joe Biden will appear on the “The View” Friday morning to discuss his 2020 presidential campaign.

“Thrilled that Vice President @JoeBiden will be giving his first exclusive interview since announcing his run for President with us @TheView table tomorrow morning,” McCain tweeted Thursday morning. “It’s no secret of my love and friendship with Joe – and I can’t wait to talk to him tomorrow.”

McCain’s comments come after Biden unveiled a video early Thursday morning announcing that he will enter the Democratic primary race. On Wednesday, the Washington Examiner reported that John McCain’s family intended to back Biden in the Democratic primary and in the general election against President Trump.

Sources close to Biden’s campaign and the McCain family told the Washington Examiner that the McCains would provide public support of Biden to ultimately remove Trump in 2020 from the Oval Office.

John McCain’s wife Cindy McCain responded to the report and said she did not plan to become involved in the 2020 presidential election.

“Joe Biden is a wonderful man and dear friend of the McCain Family. However, I have no intention of getting involved in presidential politics.”

The McCain family is close to Biden, and the former vice president spoke at John McCain’s funeral last year. When John McCain was still battling brain cancer, Biden appeared on “The View” with Meghan McCain and said that he and he father were “like two brothers who were somehow raised by different fathers or something, because of our points of view.”
