Trumps will host ‘ghosts and goblins’ at White House Halloween party

Melania Trump’s office announced Friday that she and President Trump will host a Halloween event for children who attend 20 local schools and military families next week.

“On Monday, October 30, 2017, the White House will open the South Lawn to ghosts and goblins of all ages,” the first lady’s office said in a statement.

The White House will welcome parents and kids from schools in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia to trick-or-treat on the South Lawn.

The Trumps will hand out presidential M&Ms and Halloween-themed cookies made by the White House pastry kitchen. Kids can also trick-or-treat from Secret Service agents, NASA officials, FEMA personnel, National Park Service officers, and Education Department members who will be scattered across the lawn.

“During this event, trick-or-treaters will enjoy seeing the South Portico decorated in spider webs, creating a festive look and feel. There will also be bats and orange pumpkins with profiles of past presidents,” the statement added. “Fog will fill the air, and the trees and south facade will be lit with different colors throughout the night.”
