The Washington Examiner’s Kaylee McGhee White explained that Republicans are still outperforming their Democratic counterparts on “the most important issues for voters,” despite races tightening as the midterm elections approach.
“On the issues that are trending as the most important issues for voters right now, Republicans are outperforming Democrats pretty significantly,” White told host Neil Cavuto on Fox Business. “Obviously, Democrats perform better on issues like abortion, as of right now, but abortion really comes in as a last priority of what voters are saying are their main concerns as they head to the polls.”

“In each of these states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, even Florida, Arizona, we have found that actually, inflation and education are the top issues that voters are most concerned about,” White explained.
According to her, this “is why you do hear most Republican candidates focusing on those issues, and that should be the goal, is to really drive those points home across the finish line come November.”
Cavuto then asked how much of an effect the markets will play on the looming midterm elections.
“We know that the markets influence public opinion just like public opinion influences the markets,” she said. “If the market does go into a sort of dive before November, that’s going to freak people out, and it’s going to make them think that something bad with the economy is going to happen.”

“Who are they going to hold responsible for the economy?” she asked. “Usually, the party that is in charge. So, none of this is really good news for Democrats. Again, they are at a disadvantage on this issue, but we will see what they have to say come November,” White concluded.
