American Queen coming to Greenville

GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) — The American Queen riverboat has rescheduled its test docking at Greenville for Nov. 9.

Memphis, Tennessee-based American Queen Steamboat Co. had announced the boat would dock on Nov. 2.

The Delta Democrat Times reports (http://bit.ly/1njsymK) the boat now is scheduled to arrive around noon Nov. 9. Passengers will not disembark during what is planned to be an hour-long stop.

In an email, the American Queen’s captain, Brent Willits, said the visit was “to check fit at the dock (and) should take less than an hour, no one on or off.”

Memphis, Tennessee-based American Queen Steamboat Co., in August announced the steamboat — it can carry 432 passengers — will be stopping in Greenville for the 2015 season rather than its previous regular daylong stopover in Helena, Arkansas.
