Following his firing from CNN, Chris Cuomo reportedly sought a scorching career comeback that included a side hustle of fighting fire.
The former CNN prime-time host applied to be a volunteer firefighter in his swanky East Hampton neighborhood before withdrawing his application due to scheduling constraints during the weeks that followed his ouster from CNN, the Daily Beast reported.
CHRIS CUOMO RESURFACES IN UKRAINE AS ‘FREE AGENT’
“It’s a very time-consuming thing. There are monthly meetings and drills, and you have to meet a percentage of your calls,” East Hampton Fire Department Chief Duane Forrester told the outlet. “That’s why we don’t have many celebrities.”
Cuomo made headlines last week for his venture into the eastern front of Ukraine, where he stood beside Ukrainian soldiers, touring some of the wreckage and imploring people to pay more attention to the carnage half a world away. His website touts the headline “Free Agent” and hints that “something is coming.”
The 51-year-old is expected to start a new podcast series titled The Chris Cuomo Project starting Thursday, with former 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Andrew Yang confirming he will be one of the first guests. A tweet from Yang included a picture of Cuomo donning a shirt with “FWD,” an apparent reference to Yang’s Forward Party, which aims to serve as a big-tent political party bringing Republicans and Democrats together on key issues.

Andrew Cuomo, combat sexual misconduct allegations that ultimately culminated in his resignation as governor. The then-anchor reportedly leaned on his media contacts to gather information about his brother’s accusers. The former governor denied all allegations of inappropriate touching.
