District of Columbia Police Chief Cathy Lanier temporarily shut down a Columbia Heights restaurant after a police officer was stabbed and a security guard was assaulted Friday night.
Solo’s Restaurant and Carryout, 3566 14th St. NW, will be closed at least until Wednesday pending an investigation by the attorney general for the District of Columbia. The Metropolitan Police Department has been dispatched to Solo at least nine times since August.
An off-duty officer was at the restaurant when two men began to attack another man.The officer and an unarmed security guard escorted them out of the restaurant, where the officer was stabbed. Nineteen-year-old Jose (Tito) Diaz has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, and 34-year-old Jose Villalta has been charged with assault with intent to kill.
