A forensic psychologist took the stand Tuesday in Johnny Depp’s defamation suit against Amber Heard to testify that Heard’s actions were “really characteristic of borderline personality disorder.”
Dr. Shannon Curry classified Heard as a “3-6 code type” within the disorder after interviewing Heard and reviewing case records and witness testimonies on the trial’s ninth day.
“When you see this [code type], you want to follow up with subordinates,” Curry explained, because there tend to be “a lot of issues in their close relationships.”

“Oftentimes, their partners will try to make them happy at first, becoming their punching bag,” Curry said.
The psychologist went on to associate Heard’s code type with “suppressed and denied anger,” being “attention-seeking,” and “very prone to externalizing blame,” adding, “there can be a lot of cruelty.”
Curry used the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 to classify Heard. There are nine total symptoms, and only five must be met to be considered within the disorder. Heard’s type is “sophisticated,” according to Curry, and “very difficult to detect” without the test.
This code type also includes “extreme discomfort at not being the center of attention and extreme effort to be the center of attention,” according to the psychologist, which can include “making up stories” in order to appear in the “victim or princess role.”
Heard was also classified as not suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, according to Curry, who used the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale, which is the “gold standard,” according to the National Center for PTSD website.
It includes a scripted survey that Curry filled out on behalf of Heard. During Heard’s first interview, she reported that she experienced 19 of the total 20 symptoms of PTSD.
“That’s not typical even of somebody with the most disabling form of PTSD,” Curry said.
The interview includes in-depth questions behind each symptom to understand just how present it is in the life of the interviewee. Curry ultimately found that Heard had three verifiable symptoms, one of them being a “hyper-startled mode” that is often associated with childhood complex trauma.
Throughout Curry’s testimony, Heard scribbled notes and handed them to her lawyer.
There is even a connection to this disorder and attractiveness, according to the psychologist’s testimony. Those with this disorder tend to “utilize their looks to get that attention” and are often “flirtatious with everybody.”
Depp took the stand earlier this week and last week to testify that he suspected Heard was cheating on him with actor James Franco while they were married.

Earlier Tuesday, Depp’s estate manager for his island in the Bahamas, Tara Roberts, took the stand to testify that she once saw Heard grabbing and pulling on Depp’s clothes and hair while he “stood there with his arms by his side.”
