Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley will ask Donald Trump Jr. to testify before his committee and will subpoena him if necessary, according to an Associated Press report Thursday.
Trump Jr. recently shared emails between him and Rob Goldstone, showing he was willing to set up a meeting with Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya who claimed to be a representative of the Russian government and had negative information about Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
The meeting took place at Trump Tower in New York City in June 2016.
Trump Jr. — the oldest son of President Trump — told Sean Hannity on Fox News that he would be willing to testify.
Trump Jr. was joined in the meeting by Trump son-in-law and senior advisor Jared Kushner and Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.
On Wednesday, Grassley said he wants Manafort to testify as well, and could also subpoena him.
The Senate Judiciary Committee, as well as multiple other congressional committees are investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign. Special Counsel Robert Mueller also has a team conducting its own probe.
The Washington Examiner left a message with a committee spokesperson seeking comment on the report.
