Fox News host Ed Henry and his sister are “awake, chatty, and visiting with family” after undergoing surgeries to transplant a part of Ed’s liver into his sister Colleen, who suffers from a heredity degenerative liver disease.
Both are “making good progress,” according to Fox News, but remain in the intensive care unit while recovering.
The doctors are encouraged by how well the surgeries went that removed Colleen’s diseased liver and replaced it with 30% of Ed’s liver. The doctors also reportedly say the livers are currently performing well and could grow back to being two complete livers in just four to six weeks.

“I am determined to do whatever I can to give my sister the greatest gift of all, which quite simply is life,” Ed wrote. “The fact is that the risk of mortality for me is extremely low – less than 1 percent, according to the doctors. I will gladly take on the small risk of what the paperwork I signed at the hospital last week calls a ‘large midline incision’ for the gigantic reward of having my sister around for a very long time.”
Henry emotionally announced Sunday he would be taking a medical leave of absence from Fox News for the surgery, breaking down as he discussed his desire for his sister to just be able to live more of her life.
