Trump rally watch live: Donald in Arizona for candidates Kari Lake and Blake Masters

Former President Donald Trump is traveling to Mesa, Arizona, on Sunday for a “Save America” rally to stump for his preferred candidates in a must-win swing state.

The event, which is taking place at the Bell Bank Park, is being held to promote Kari Lake, the state’s GOP gubernatorial candidate, and Blake Masters, the GOP nominee in Arizona’s Senate race against incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ). Lake’s race against Arizona’s Secretary of State Katie Hobbs has polled extremely tight, and Trump is returning to the Grand Canyon State to push her over the edge. The 45th president held a rally to boost Lake and Masters in their respective primaries back in July.

Also appearing at the event are Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Debbie Lesko (R-AZ), and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who has become a regular face on the former president’s rally circuit.

Follow along to see how the event unfolds.

Trump says GOP needs to reclaim abortion narrative

After arguing that Democrats were pushing a narrative about Republicans and abortion after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Trump reiterated that he supported the three exceptions: rape, incest, and the life of the mother.

“I also believe strongly in the three exceptions like Ronald Reagan,” Trump said. “Ronald Reagan believed in the exceptions, and I believe in the three exceptions, and I think it’s very, I think it’s very important.

“But they are the ones radical, of course,” he continued, referencing Democrats position on abortion. “Because they bring it up to [or] beyond, essentially beyond, the ninth month [of pregnancy].”

Trump then maintained his support for the high court overturning the landmark abortion ruling and returning the issue to the states, saying: “That’ll work out.”

As for late term abortions, which Trump said Democrats supported by not imposing any restrictions, he argued that Republicans: “can’t let that happen, no country in the world lets that happen.” He then went on to claim that Democrats were misrepresenting their own position on abortion “because they’re going to lose big on crime. They’re going to lose big on the economy.”

“They’re losing, almost everything they lose,” the 45th president argued. “They have nothing going, so they thought, maybe, when the Supreme Court voted this way, they could use that as an issue. But it turns out really, when you know about the real issue, it’s very bad. So I’ve done the best I can to explain it.”

“What really I think you’re going to vote for this time is crime and the economy and inflation and all of the horrible things that are happening to our country,” Trump said, making his point that Democrats would lose in the November midterms if they campaigned on other issues.

Trump takes aim at Sen. Mark Kelly’s voting record

Going after Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), his political rival of the evening, Trump told the crowd: “The first step to restoring public safety is defeating the radical Democrats in November and that starts with throwing out your extremely senator, a weak man, Mark Kelly. He’s tried his best to secure the border but in fact for the past two years, Mark Kelly has been deciding, and he’s been that deciding 50th vote to rubber stamp every Bide-Pelosi-Schumer bill.”

“And then we have him write to Congress. He never fights anything and he doesn’t fight to get safety for your border. It’s not like he’s fighting on the positive, he could do that. And I guess Kelly could have stopped the voter nightmare with a snap of his fingers, but he didn’t want to.”

Kelly, according to Trump, “totally voted against money for border agents. Did you hear that? Brandon, I know that he’s got your vote. He voted against money for you people. That’s not good. And yet, he voted for 87,000 of those IRS agents carrying guns, he voted no border wall.”
