New York City Mayor Eric Adams had three of his electronic devices seized by the FBI related to an investigation into fundraising for his 2021 mayoral campaign, according to multiple reports.
The New York Times reported that earlier this week, FBI agents approached Adams on the street and took two cellphones and an iPad, in accordance with a court-authorized warrant. The devices were returned to the mayor days later, according to the report.

“On Monday night, the FBI approached the mayor after an event. The Mayor immediately complied with the FBI’s request and provided them with electronic devices,” Boyd Johnson, campaign attorney for the mayor, said in a statement to the Washington Examiner. “The mayor has not been accused of any wrongdoing and continues to cooperate with the investigation.”
The FBI is reportedly investigating allegations that some foreign contributions to Adams’s 2021 mayoral campaign may have been made as part of a donor scheme under the names of people who had not contributed. Johnson said Adams was cooperating with the investigation.
“After learning of the federal investigation, it was discovered that an individual had recently acted improperly. In the spirit of transparency and cooperation, this behavior was immediately and proactively reported to investigators,” Johnson said.
Adams, in a statement on Friday, said he has “nothing to hide” in the wake of his devices being seized by the FBI and affirmed that he will “follow the law and fully cooperate” with the investigation.

“As a former member of law enforcement, I expect all members of my staff to follow the law and fully cooperate with any sort of investigation — and I will continue to do exactly that. I have nothing to hide.” Adams said in a statement to the Washington Examiner.
Adams’s chief fundraiser Brianna Suggs reportedly had her home raided by the FBI last week, where agents allegedly took two laptops, several papers, a “manila folder labeled Eric Adams,” and a number of “contribution card binders.”
