Senate advances temporary spending bill as border security talks continue — The Capitol is seen late Tuesday night, Sept. 26, 2023, in Washington, as lawmakers work to advance appropriations bills on the House floor. The Senate voted to proceed with the continuing resolution to keep the government funded until Nov. 17 on Thursday as lawmakers race toward preventing a government shutdown.
