Speaking today at the acceptance ceremony for the Irish American Hall of Fame award, Hillary Clinton joked about taking a DNA test:
“I am very grateful to all of you for this singular honor, which I could not attain by birth, just like how many immigrant grandparents I had. Although now that Patricia has enlightened us the French-Canadians and the ships that crashed — who knows? I may have to do one of those DNA tests,” she said to mild chuckles.
She wouldn’t be the first Clinton give a DNA sample! The FBI had to get a sample of Bill Clinton’s when he was accussed of sexual harassment, which led to the Monica Lewinsky scandal. As former FBI chief Louis Freeh explained in a sit-down interview with CBS:
He found it deeply awkward and frustrating to be constantly investigating his boss and says it became ‘theater of the absurd’ when special prosecutor Ken Starr asked him to get a DNA sample from the president to compare with that notorious stain on Lewinsky’s dress.
Freeh says the entire scenario of getting a blood sample from the president was like a bad movie.
“Well, we went over to the White House. We did it very carefully, very confidentially,” remembers Freeh. The president was attending a scheduled dinner and pretended he had to go to the bathroom. Instead, Clinton went to a room where the FBI had people waiting to take his blood.
