GOP 2024 field congratulates newly elected House Speaker Mike Johnson — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump gestures after speaking Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, at Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. A judge has rejected an attempt by Trump to dismiss a lawsuit seeking to keep him off the ballot in Colorado, ruling that his objections on free-speech grounds did not apply. The decision paves the way for a trial later this month over whether a constitutional "insurrection" clause can bar him from running again for the White House.

Republican presidential candidates began congratulating and praising the newly elected House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) after 220 House Republicans voted in favor of him to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries‘s (D-NY) 209 votes Wednesday afternoon.
