EagleBank Bowl renamed to Military Bowl

The EagleBank Bowl is being renamed the Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman, according to a source with knowledge of the information.

A sponsorship by the nationally recognized defense contractor, which plans to move its corporate headquarters to Falls Church early next year, could bring more prestige to the annual college football game held at RFK Stadium. The name change also ties in to the strong military presence in the region and the bowl’s charitable beneficiary, the USO.

Eagle Bank, which has been title sponsor since the inaugural bowl in 2008, will remain a principal sponsor.

Officials are expected to make the official announcement and unveil the bowl’s new logo at a press conference this afternoon at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

The Military Bowl this year will be between teams from Conference USA and the ACC and is scheduled for Dec. 29 at RFK Stadium.

UCLA defeated Temple, 30-21, in last year’s game.
