President Joe Biden is set to deliver remarks after the United Auto Workers went on strike against the Big Three automakers.
As the time expired on labor negotiations between the union and car manufacturers, workers decided to strike at factories owned by General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis.

The union strikers are seeking a 36% pay raise over the next four years, a number they’ve come down on since initially demanding a 46% pay raise. They additionally want a four-day workweek, pension benefits for all employees, more paid time off, and other job protections.

“UAW members feel abandoned by the Democratic Party,” former UAW President Bob King said in an interview. “I think there’s a segment of the Democratic Party that sees itself as serving corporations rather than the common good … We’ve had a lot of disappointments.”
