Laura Ingraham offers to host debate between Haley and DeSantis

Laura Ingraham suggested a one-on-one debate matchup between GOP presidential candidates Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

The Fox News host said the two candidates “need to debate it out.”

“Well, I’d like to see Ron DeSantis vs. Nikki Haley,” Ingraham said while hosting her show, The Ingraham Angle, on Tuesday night. “The two of them, I think, need to debate it out. That’s what we need to see at this point. And I think America would like to see that as well. And we’re offering the Angle to do that.”

Haley’s poll numbers and fundraising figures have increased in the wake of the first three primary debates to the point where she is rivaling DeSantis for second place in some statewide polls. An Emerson College poll of New Hampshire voters released Thursday showed Haley surging to second place at 18%, behind former President Donald Trump at 49% and ahead of DeSantis at 7%.

However, Haley and DeSantis trail Trump among Republican presidential candidates.

Upon hearing Ingraham’s debate suggestion, DeSantis took to social media to take her up on the offer.

“Count me in!” DeSantis said.

“Unlike Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis is willing to stand on the debate stage and lay out a plan to help Americans who are being harmed by out-of-control prices, an open southern border, and an increasingly dangerous world,” Bryan Griffin, DeSantis’s campaign press secretary, told the Washington Examiner. “He welcomes these debates. He will debate Nikki Haley. He is set to debate Gavin Newsom. And if Trump finds the courage, Ron DeSantis will debate him, too.”

A recent RealClearPolitics poll average showed Trump polling at 58.5%, DeSantis at 14.4%, and Haley at 9%.

The Washington Examiner has reached out to Haley’s campaign regarding whether she is open to such a debate.
