Kaine to face Dem challenger?

While most Democrats have let out a collective sigh of relief now that former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine has entered the 2012 race for U.S. Senate in Virginia, Kaine could have a challenger from his own party on his hands.

From the Richmond Times-Dispatch:

Courtney Lynch, a Marine Corps veteran and founding partner of Lead Star consulting firm, has announced that she is exploring a run, offering herself as “a common-sense alternative to career candidates.”
The self-described “leadership geek” said she plans to spend the next couple of months on a statewide listening tour, gauging interest in her candidacy and developing a platform based on feedback.

Rep. Bobby Scott, D-Va., has not ruled out a run for the seat of retiring Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., and has indicated he’ll make a decision by July. He told the Post that the decision will depend, in part, on how the state’s battle over redrawing its congressional lines plays out.

On the other side, the GOP field is already crowded, and includes former Virginia Sen. George Allen and Tea Party activist Jamie Radtke.
