The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, issued an alert of an armed and dangerous person on or near the campus Monday afternoon.
University police released a photo of a person of interest in the active assailant situation. No name was provided.

The university issued an Alert Carolina at 1:03 p.m., asking people to shelter in place. The order was lifted at around 4:15 p.m. All classes and events have been canceled for the rest of the day.
