Police deliver Mother’s Day flowers after arresting delivery driver for DUI

Police officers in California went out of their way to save Mother’s Day by delivering flowers after a delivery driver was arrested for a DUI but still had a trunk full of bouquets.

“What happens when your flower delivery driver is involved in a collision and then arrested for DUI? @FairfieldPolice finishes the remaining flower deliveries for you!” the Fairfield Police Department tweeted, accompanied by photos of the officers. “#happymothersday2021 everyone. Hopefully we get the flowers to their destinations on time.”

The department identified the officers who made the deliveries as James Lewis, Chance Leong, and John Divine, and it added that they did it on their own accord and were met with positive feedback from the community.

“If anything, hopefully, it shows everybody the softer side of officers. Officers have a tough job, dealing with a lot of things and making decisions under stress. This is one of those things that actually showed that they’re humans as well,” Lt. Jausiah Jacobsen told the Washington Examiner when asked about the officers’ acts amid the anti-police climate that has swept the country in the last year.

Social media users backed Jacobsen’s comments, posting messages lauding the officers for their acts.

“What a way to end my mother’s day — to hear a great story like this Great job! Thanks on behalf of all mothers out there,” one person posted.
