NEW YORK (AP) — McGraw-Hill Education is buying privately held ALEKS Corp., a provider of web-based educational software.
Financial terms were not disclosed.

McGraw-Hills Cos. changed its name to McGraw Hill Financial last month. In March the company sold McGraw-Hill Education to funds affiliated with Apollo Global Management LLC for $2.4 billion.
McGraw-Hill Education said Thursday that the transaction will help strengthen its position in delivering personalized educational experiences to its customers. The acquisition is the company’s first since being purchased by Apollo.
The ALEKS deal builds on McGraw-Hill Education’s efforts to bolster its adaptive learning offerings. In January the company acquired an equity stake in a Denmark adaptive learning company, Area9 Aps.
ALEKS will keep its current offices in Irvine, Calif.
The deal is expected to close early in the third quarter.
