Man arrested in Belgium for alleged plot to attack US Embassy

A Belgian man has been arrested and charged with preparing a terror attack against the U.S. Embassy in Brussels.

The man, who has yet to be identified, was arrested Saturday by anti-terror police who were acting on intelligence that suggested the embassy could be attacked. The man, who has denied the allegations against him, was under surveillance by authorities prior to the weekend arrest.

He is being charged by Belgian prosecutors with “an attempted attack in a terrorist context and preparing a terrorist offense.”

The man was reportedly seen acting suspiciously near the embassy.
