“Fuck Donald Trump,” was the Democratic battle cry made over the weekend from outgoing California Democratic Party chairman John Burton.
Burton made the remark in initiating this year’s California Democratic Convention in Sacramento, where the theme appeared to be resisting the current administration in Washington.
Burton extended a middle finger while making the remark to a cheering crowd, the Associated Press reported.

Carla Marinucci, senior writer for Politico, tweeted out video of people in the crowd holding middle fingers in the air and cheering.

Burton made the comment Saturday at the convention in Sacramento, which was focused on the upcoming 2018 gubernatorial race.
One of the contenders for governor, Gavin Newsome, who currently serves as Gov. Jerry Brown’s lieutenant governor, said the country is counting on California to lead the way in opposing President Trump.
“The world, literally the world, is counting on all of you, counting on California to reject Trump’s deception and destructiveness,” he said.
Another possible contender for governor, billionaire climate activist Tom Steyer, addressed the convention on Sunday.
He called the Golden State the “center of the resistance,” Marinucci tweeted. “Let’s regroup, let’s resist … and let’s reclaim the whole U.S. of A,” Steyer said.
