A California protester interrupted an MSNBC reporter’s broadcast and told him to “take off your damn mask, man!”
MSNBC’s Steve Patterson reported Saturday on protesters who gathered in southern California to oppose Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom’s social distancing orders amid the coronavirus. But he was unexpectedly interrupted by one man telling him to take off his mask.
“The beach is to my right. You can see some of this orange fencing. That’s kept a lot of people away, at least from [the] main beach. Haven’t seen anybody there,” Patterson began.
One protester then said to Patterson, “Take off your damn mask, man! You don’t need it.”
Patterson pressed on with his report, showing viewers several other protesters in Laguna Beach. Some held up signs with messages such as “When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty” and “USA: Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.”
A small contingent of protestors takes to the streets lining the blocked off shoreline in Laguna Beach.
Their message: They want the stay at home order lifted… now. They say the beaches aren’t the primary worry but it was fuel to the fire.
