Ron Johnson expects the votes to subpoena Russia-related documents and testimony

Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson is confident there are enough votes in his panel to subpoena documents and testimony related to the Trump-Russia investigations.

Democrats on the committee have criticized the investigations as fishing expeditions taking up too much time amid the coronavirus pandemic. That’s a charge Johnson dismisses.

“I think the American people have heard the full truth in what happened in terms of corruption in the transition process, before the election during the transition, and afterwards as well,” the Wisconsin Republican told the Washington Examiner.

Thursday’s committee meeting will include discussions pertaining to potential abuse of law enforcement and surveillance laws, including the unmasking of Trump campaign and Trump transition officials, the use of defensive briefings, and leaks to the media of classified information to help further Crossfire Hurricane.

Johnson also confirmed his committee is in the midst of producing a work product from the Hunter Biden-Burisma investigation it launched last year. It is expected to be released before the November election.

Any vote to subpoena documents are all expected to be from Republican senators.
