Late night host Trevor Noah made fun of Joe Biden’s verbal stumbles after the former vice president continued to fumble through his answers during the fourth Democratic presidential debate.
Noah played a clip of Biden’s answer to a question about his son’s business dealings, where he switched topics multiple times within the same sentence.
“My son’s statement speaks for itself. What I think is important is we focus on why it’s so important to remove this man from office,” Biden said during the Tuesday night debate. “On the 17 — look, the fact George Washington worried on the first time he spoke after being elected president, that what we had to worry about is foreign interference in our election.”
The host of The Daily Show responded by roasting the former vice president.
“Okay, one minute he’s talking about his son, then it’s George Washington, then something about ‘the 17’? Joe Biden is the only candidate who remixes his speech while he’s giving it,” Noah said.
Biden, 76, had other verbal stumbles during the debate, including saying he would eliminate the capital gains tax before asserting he wanted to double it.
The Delaware Democrat has a long history of speaking missteps and verbal stutters. As a child, Biden suffered from a stutter he said he had to work to overcome.
The candidate is a front-runner in the 2020 presidential primary with a slight edge in the polls over Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
