President Trump proposed a border wall covered in solar panels during a meeting Tuesday with GOP leaders in the White House, according to a report by Axios.
Trump reportedly envisions the solar panels being “beautiful structures” on a 40-foot-to-50-foot wall and that the electricity from them could be used to pay for the wall.
The design for a wall covered in solar panels was already submitted as part of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection project to source designs from companies according to an AP report.
“I like the wall to be able to pay for itself,” said managing partner Thomas Gleason whose firm submitted the solar panel covered design according to the report.
According to Axios, Trump told those present at the White House meeting that they could talk about the solar-paneled wall only if they accredited the idea to him.
