Washington Post cartoonist Ann Telnaes has been widely panned for her depiction of Texas Sen.Ted Cruz’s 4- and 7-year old daughters as monkeys in an editorial cartoon.

Cruz himself tweeted his anger and eventually the Washington Post pulled the cartoon, with editorial page editor Fred Hiatt saying: “It’s generally been the policy of our editorial section to leave children out of it. I failed to look at this cartoon before it was published. I understand why Ann thought an exception to the policy was warranted in this case, but I do not agree.”
But one person who had to get into the mix? Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
Perry posted an Instagram Wednesday morning with the caption, “WaPo cartoonist??” and a link to a story by the American Thinker on the Cruz cartoon.
But here’s where things get awkward. The photo failed two-time presidential candidate Perry posted is of a scantily clad woman in a dunce cap.
