Gas prices today: Where to find the cheapest fuel across the country


Managing gas prices, especially with the travel and coordination that the Fourth of July often entails, can be burdensome.

And as the 2024 presidential election slowly comes clearer into view, the economy will be on the minds of most, if not all, voters. The price at the pumps is one of the most direct and day-to-day pieces of evidence as to how the economy is faring.

THE FOURTH OF JULY REMINDS US WHY FREEDOM MATTERS SO MUCH

The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Wednesday is $3.522, down from $3.529 on Tuesday and $3.556 a week ago, according to AAA.

Maryland

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland is $3.500, just slightly below the national average. On Tuesday, the price was $3.506, and one week ago, it was $3.450.

Virginia

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia is $3.297, below the national average. The price was $3.304 on Tuesday and $3.306 this time last week.

Washington, D.C.

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., is $3.689, 10 cents less than Tuesday. One week ago, the price was $3.715.

California

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California is well above the national average at $4.846. On Tuesday, the price was $4.844, and one week ago, it was $4.830.

New York

In New York, the average price is $3.682, a cent less than on Tuesday. Last week, it was $3.691.

Texas

The average price in Texas sits well below the national average at $3.132, compared with $3.137 the day before and $3.197 the week before.
