Hunter Biden sued Rudy Giuliani, former lawyer for former President Donald Trump, on Tuesday over alleged violations of computer fraud and data access related to his laptop.
Lawyers for Biden, who is the son of President Joe Biden, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles naming Giuliani, his companies, and Robert Costello, an attorney who previously represented Giuliani, as defendants.
BIDEN ADMINISTRATION CHARGED WITH NEW ‘SUE AND SETTLE’ END-AROUND OF CONGRESS
“For the past many months and even years, Defendants have dedicated an extraordinary amount of time and energy toward looking for, hacking into, tampering with, manipulating, copying, disseminating, and generally obsessing over data that they were given that was taken or stolen from Plaintiff’s devices or storage platforms, including what Defendants claim to have obtained from Plaintiff’s alleged ‘laptop’ computer,” the lawsuit states via CNBC.
The lawsuit states that Giuliani, Costello, and the other defendants have participated in the “total annihilation” of Hunter Biden’s digital privacy.
“They also are among those who have been primarily responsible for the ‘total annihilation’ of Plaintiff’s data,” the lawsuit reads, adding that the defendants are also involved in “further alterations and damage to the data” that is unknown to Hunter Biden.
This is not the first lawsuit Hunter Biden has filed in relation to his laptop. On Sept. 13, he filed a lawsuit against former Trump aide Garrett Ziegler, his company, and 10 unnamed defendants for allegedly posting the contents of his laptop illegally.
In May 2022, a copy of Hunter Biden’s hard drive was obtained by the Washington Examiner and examined by Konstantinos “Gus” Dimitrelos, a former Secret Service agent who has testified as a cyberforensics expert in dozens of cases. Dimitrelos, who was commissioned to determine the drive’s authenticity and whether there were any signs of tampering, concluded there was no evidence of any hacking or file manipulation and the laptop was indisputably authentic.
Hunter Biden was recently indicted by the Justice Department in Delaware over allegedly lying on a form to purchase a gun in 2018. His actions and claims over Joe Biden’s knowledge and involvement in his son’s former business dealings are the subject of several House GOP investigations.
The laptop is at the center of House Republicans’ investigation of social media censorship on controversial topics, including COVID-19 vaccines and election-related matters. The “laptop from hell,” a nickname given to the device by conservatives, was apparently left at a Wilmington, Delaware, repair shop and discovered by Republican operatives in the weeks before the 2020 election. It has become the focal point of corruption allegations pointing to Hunter Biden.
Special counsel David Weiss handed down a three-count indictment against Hunter Biden on Sept. 14, two months after a plea deal fell apart in court. Hunter Biden is accused of illegal ownership of a gun while addicted to drugs, as well as making a false statement to purchase a firearm and making a false statement related to information required to be kept by federal firearms licensed dealers.

The charges carry a maximum total of 25 years in prison, but it is highly unlikely a judge will hand down the maximum penalty based on charging standards.
Two days before Weiss’s indictment, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) announced that the House Judiciary, Oversight, and Ways and Means committees would lead an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden for allegations of influence peddling. These allegations paint a “picture of corruption,” McCarthy said.
