Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) didn’t hold back in a roast of her fellow lawmakers, zinging Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and others at the Congressional Dinner on Wednesday.
The South Carolina Republican, a centrist who sometimes butts heads with GOP leadership and the conservative wing of her party, delivered the comedic address at an annual dinner for lawmakers and press members. Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) spoke for the Democrats, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) also poked fun at themselves and each other in short remarks.
NANCY MACE SAYS ‘SQUAD’ MEMBERS ARE ‘DRAMA QUEENS’ FOR COMPLAINING ABOUT ILHAN OMAR OUSTER
Some of the highlights from Mace’s show-stealing, if sometimes “cringe-worthy” speech included an early knock on the House speaker: “Did you watch McCarthy during the speaker vote? I haven’t seen someone assume that many positions to appease crazy Republicans since Stormy Daniels.”
She needled Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) over the FBI investigation into alleged underage sex trafficking with, “Let’s be honest: We all knew Matt Gaetz wouldn’t let the speaker vote get to 18.” (Gaetz was never charged and denies any wrongdoing.)
“I tried looking for Ilhan Omar in the audience tonight, but it looks like she lost her seat,” Mace added, referencing Omar’s recent ousting from the Foreign Affairs Committee over past antisemitic remarks.
She got two in one by telling Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL), who admitted to having bad credit, “Just marry Ilhan Omar, she’ll give you a visa,” referencing claims that Omar entered into a green card marriage with a relative.
“Recently, there’s been a lot of talk about antisemitism. But since Marjorie Taylor Greene started behaving, the rate of Jewish space laser attacks is now zero,” she continued and hit Boebert several times over her affinity for guns. Greene was in attendance and reportedly took the digs with good humor, according to Politico.
Embattled Rep. George Santos (R-NY), who admitted to fabricating large aspects of his background, was the punchline of numerous jokes throughout the evening, one of which addressed the claim that he was a star volleyball player at Baruch College, which he did not attend.

“Really, who lies about playing college volleyball? Like, who does that? If you’re going to lie, at least make it about something big, like you actually won the 2020 presidential election,” Mace said in a dig at former President Donald Trump.
Compared to Mace, Warnock’s remarks were tame but still garnered laughs. He ended his preacherly remarks with, “Thanks again for having me. If you liked what you heard, my name is Raphael Warnock. If you didn’t, I’m Sen. Tim Scott.”
Mace said she might be “called to the principal’s office” to get a talking-to from McCarthy over her roast.
