Montgomery County police arrested a trio of women suspected of robbing two Chevy Chase Bank branches since May.
On June 7, police said, Tanisha Beatrice Pierre, 22, and Nicole Howard, 23, entered the Chevy Chase Bank at 101 Halpine Road in Rockville and passed a note to a teller demanding money. The women fled in a 1996 Toyota 4-Runner with an undisclosed amount of money, police said. A few hours later, Pierre and Howard were arrested after police saw them getting into a sport utility vehicle outside Pierre’s home, authorities said.
Pierre is also accused of robbing the Chevy Chase branch of an undisclosed amount at 11261 New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring on May 10 with Kelly Alexander Phillips, 23.
Phillips was arrested Tuesday based on information provided by the other women.
Montgomery County police spokeswoman Lucille Baur said bank heists in the county by women are not usual but also “not unheard-of.”
Pierre, of the 5000 block of McCall Street in Rockville, was charged with conspiracy-robbery and two counts each of robbery and theft valued at less than $500. She is being held at Montgomery County Detention Center on $200,000 bond.
Howard, of the 13000 block of Marquette Lane in Bowie, was charged with conspiracy-robbery, conspiracy-theft valued at less than $500, robbery, and theft valued at less than $500. She is being held on $100,000 bond.
Phillips, of the 14100 block of Heritage Drive in Silver Spring, was charged with conspiracy-armed robbery and armed robbery because she threatened to use an unidentified weapon, Baur said. She is being held on $75,000 bond. Police are still investigating.
