Gas prices today: Where to find the cheapest fuel across the country


As Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) promises $2 gas if he is elected president, President Joe Biden likely feels the temperature rising even higher with people frustrated by high gas prices.

As the 2024 presidential election approaches, the economy is on voters’ minds, and the prices at the pumps could play a major role in determining the next president of the United States.

The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Thursday is $3.867, below Wednesday’s price of $3.875. The price was $3.858 a week ago, according to AAA.

Maryland

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland is $3.675, below Wednesday’s price of $3.699. One week ago, the price was $3.676.

Virginia

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia is $3.588, just below Wednesday’s $3.591 price. Last week, the price was $3.588.

Washington, D.C.

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., is down on Thursday at $3.909. Wednesday’s price was $3.920. Last week, it was $3.917.

California

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California remains startlingly high at $5.792 on Thursday, one tick below Wednesday’s price of $5.793. Last week, the price was significantly lower at $5.505.

New York

In New York, the average price is $3.926, just below Wednesday’s price of $3.927. Last week, the average price was $3.908.

Texas

The average price in Texas on Thursday is $3.409, below Wednesday’s $3.418 price. Last week, it was $3.417.
