President Trump said Tuesday he has an Elton John CD that includes the song “Rocket Man” that he hopes to give to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at some point, but said the gift has not yet been delivered.
“I have it for him, they didn’t give it,” Trump said Tuesday while departing for Europe to engage in NATO talks. “But it will be given at a certain period.”
Reports emerged last week from South Korean media outlet Chosun Ilbo that during Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s third visit to North Korea to follow up on denuclearization talks, he would give Kim a CD signed by Trump. The reports were unconfirmed.
Trump has referred to Kim as “Little Rocket Man” in the past, especially during the height of nuclear tensions between the U.S. and North Korea.
Trump also indicated he has some other present he’s waiting to give to Kim.
“I actually do have a little gift for him, but you’ll find out what that gift is when I give it,” Trump said.
