WATCH: Sarah Sanders holds White House press briefing on Nov. 27, 2018

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders is holding a briefing with reporters Tuesday afternoon.

The press briefing comes after a tense weekend at the U.S.-Mexico border during which federal agents used tear gas to repel migrants attempting to illegally cross near San Diego. President Trump has threatened to “permanently” close the border if Mexico doesn’t send the Central American migrants, many of whom are seeking asylum in the U.S., back to their home countries and called on Congress to fund his border wall.

Also in the news is a tense standoff between Russia and Ukraine and General Motors announcing on Monday it plans to slash thousands of manufacturing jobs and close production plants in the upper Midwest, home to a key geographic voting bloc that helped Trump secure victory in the 2016 presidential election.

The Tuesday briefing is the first between Sanders and the White House press corps since the West Wing revoked the credential of CNN reporter Jim Acosta following what the administration called an “attack” on a White House intern last month.

During verbal altercation between the president and Acosta during a press conference, Trump called the CNN journalist a “rude, terrible person,” who refused to give up a microphone he was using to question Trump.

After the network sued the administration, a judge ruled in Acosta’s favor and his pass was reinstated. Acosta is expected to attend Tuesday’s briefing.
