Presidential candidate Andrew Yang took a break from the campaign trail Wednesday night to shoot hoops with students from Georgetown University.
“Andrew Yang getting BUCKETS at Yates #YangGang,” Georgetown’s version of the popular sports website Barstool Sports posted on Instagram.
The political outsider and former education entrepreneur is in Washington, D.C., for Thursday’s climate change forum co-hosted by the university, MSNBC, New York Magazine, and environmental news outlet Our Daily Planet.

The unidentified student Yang scored on was later lightly mocked by Georgetown’s Knights of Columbus. The Catholic fraternal organization posted on its Facebook group that one of its new recruits got “crossed up” by Yang, who’s running on a platform of giving every American adult a Universal Basic Income in the form of a monthly payment.
This is not the first time Yang’s tried extracurricular activities before a campaign stop. In August, he joined a Jazzercise class in Beaufort, South Carolina, after hearing Cupid’s 2007 hit Cupid Shuffle playing ahead of a meeting with Beaufort Mayor Billy Keyserling and Beaufort’s Black Chamber of Commerce.

The political neophyte surprised pundits by qualifying for this month’s third Democratic debate in Houston while more established White House hopefuls like New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand did not.
As of Thursday morning, he averages 3% support, according to RealClearPolitics data. That share of the vote puts him in sixth place with former Texas congressman Beto O’Rourke, but behind former Vice President Joe Biden, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, and California Sen. Kamala Harris.
