Trump touts falling aluminum prices after tariff hike on imports

President Trump on Friday cheered falling U.S. aluminum prices after he imposed a 10 percent tariff on most imports, and said he’s not surprised that prices are falling.

“Despite the Aluminum Tariffs, Aluminum prices are DOWN 4%. People are surprised, I’m not!” Trump tweeted Friday. “Lots of money coming into U.S. coffers and Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!”

Last month, Trump imposed a 25 percent tariff on steel imports and 10 percent tariff on aluminum imports from the majority of countries that the U.S. receives these goods from, with some exceptions for U.S. allies.
